Full HD Video
The VIXIA HF R500 camcorder records Full HD video directly to a removable SD memory card. Widely available in several capacities, SD memory cards let you share your videos quickly and easily. In addition to SD memory cards, the VIXIA HF R500 also lets you use super-high capacity SDXC cards. The same size as a standard SD card, a SDXC card can hold up to 2,048 GB, and provides ultra-fast data transfer.

Touch & Track
Touch & Track delivers precise focus and exposure on any subject - people, pets, vehicles and more. Simply select your point of interest on the touch panel LCD, and you will have your subject in sharp focus, regardless of where in the frame it moves during the shot – and, the exposure will be perfectly adjusted for subject and conditions. Touch & Track is also the default setting, ready when you turn the camcorder on. For more creative control, you can also choose to adjust focus or exposure independently by turning off Touch & Track, and turning on Touch Focus or Touch Exposure.

32x Optical Zoom
"Optical Zoom" means that the lens of the camera is moving closer to the subject. This provides no image quality loss. When you in the digital zoom mode it is like it is taking a picture and then digitally zooming in (results in grainy images). The CanonVIXIA cameras have a 32x optical zoom. That means that if your animal is 320 yards out the camera can zoom it into 10 yards! That means at full optical zoom it can zoom your subject in 32x times.

Increase Your Audio QualityThe Canon VIXIA HF R500 has a built-in microphone, but to increase your audio pickup and quality it has a mini-plug audio port that allows you to add an additional microphone. The camera itself does not have a place to mount a microphone to, that is where the Wrap Around Mount comes into play. It attaches to the bottom of the camera and like the name suggests, wraps around the camcorder and gives you a mounting plate on top.
The most important reason when it comes to adding a shotgun microphone is that you can add a fuzzy windscreen to the microphone. We all know how crazy the wind can get when we are out filming a hunt that is where the windscreen comes into play! It will significantly block wind noise from being recorded. You can not add a windscreen to the internal microphone.
A great shotgun microphone that I would recommend would be the Rode VideoMic with Rycote Lyre Suspension System. This has an integrated suspension system that reduces noise being picked up from the camera functions.
