Video Filming Tips

Always Use Manual Focus

Using auto focus in the woods can be very frustrating and lead to poor quality video. Small sticks and leaves between you and your subject can constantly change the focus on the camera. Press the auto/manual focus button on your camera until you see mf in the viewfinder. This means you can focus on your subject manually. Once you are set up in your stand, zoom into a known travel route for deer and focus on an object in that area. Zoom back out. Now you'll be ready to film where deer or any other subject passes into the frame. Keep in mind as you film subjects at different distances (deer, your partner, etc) you will have to readjust your focus. For best results, always keep one hand near the focus ring on the camera so you can get to it quickly. Stay Prepared!!
