Quick guide on choosing a GoPro for your needs:

1) If you are interested in shooting 4K at 30fps choose the HERO4 Black. Yes, the HERO4 Silver shoots at 4K at 15fps but that will produce "choppy" video. Unless you are shooting a stationary shot with no fast moving objects (like a timelapse of the clouds or sky). Here is a video comparing the 30fps vs the 15fps

2) If you are interested in shooting slow motion shots (120fps at 1080) then go with the GoPro HD HERO4 Black. The HERO4 Black can shoot 120 or 90fps at full HD.

3) If you are more concerned about getting the perfect shot and reviewing it right on the GoPro then go with the GoPro HD HERO4 Silver with the built-in LCD screen.
You might be concerned with battery life and the LCD. Here is a tip: Turn the LCD on and set up your shot, then you can  turn it off. When you want to review your shot you can turn it back on.

4) If you are using your smartphone/tablet as a remote or the GoPro remote and are concerned about getting the most battery life go with the GoPro HD HERO4 Black or Silver edition. One upgrade they made to the HERO4s is bluetooth capabilities. Now you can connect to your smartphone/tablet or the GoPro remote via Bluetooth. This is significantly more battery efficient then the Wifi.

5) If you are looking for a GoPro with great low-light capabilities go with either the GoPro HD HERO4 Black or Silver edition. New to the GoPro 4's is the "Low-light" mode that allows you to capture stunning images in low light.
6) If you are wanting the abilities to change the White balance, ISO, Sharpness and Exposure in both photo and movie mode you will want to go with either the GoPro HD HERO4 Black or Silver edition. Detail explanation here: http://gopro.com/support/articles/advanced-protune-controls-explained

7) If you are looking for a POV camera that is going to shoot full 1080HD at 60fps, have wi-fi built-in capabilities, shoots decent photos and timelapses without the cost of the expensive cameras then go with the  GoPro HD HERO3+ Silver Edition.

8) If you are interested in getting a budget friendly Gopro with the abilities to change out the batteries or add a LCD backpack then you will want to go with the GoPro HD HERO 3 Silver.
9) If you are interested in the most budget-friendly option for a GoPro then you would want to go with the GoPro HERO.
NOTE: The GoPro HERO can not be taken out of its case. That means that you can not exchange batteries.
